It's beginning to look a lot like....

CHRISTMAS! Kelsey, Shelbe, Kathy, and Sara had a holiday baking girls night this week. We listened to the New Kids On The Block Christmas cassette tape, while decorating TONS of sugar cookies. Angela, a student from Tech, was also able to drop by and help us. We had a GREAT night!

Can you see Shelbe saying "BAM!" here with the flour.

Angela, Kelsey, Shelbe, and Kathy showing off their hard work!

Don't these look delicious?

Angela's very creative snowman!

God is Faithful!

Today was an awesome experience! Kelsey, Shelbe, and Jared met me at Tech. They turned in all of their volunteer paperwork and got Tech ID's so they are now "official" on campus. After school, they hung out a met a TON of kids! I was so impressed with how outgoing they are! They are very intentional about meeting kids and remembering their names. Watching them interact with the students brought me back to my leader days at IU. Their enthusiasm is super contagious. I was able to introduce them to several of the students who went to YL summer camp this year or fall camp a few years back. Those kids were really excited to meet the leaders and to finally have Young Life on campus. They all mentioned wanting to go to camp again this year, which is AWESOME! We are already starting to pray about getting as many students as possible to go to camp in June.

After hanging out on the 3rd floor of Stuart, we headed over to the auditorium where fall play rehearsal was going on. The fall play is THIS FRIDAY and SATURDAY nights at Tech. Check it out if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend. They are performing “Donovan’s Daughters,” at 7:00 p.m. The leaders enjoyed meeting some of the students who will be in the play. Jared stuck around after we left and also met up with Rob Wynkoop. Rob introduced him to the Head football coach and some of the players! It was a GREAT day!

God is really at work on Tech's campus! To see actual Tech leaders on campus today, meeting with students, made me want to get on my hands and knees and PRAISE the LORD! Our committee has been praying for leaders for 3 years and God is FAITHFUL!

Meet Kathy Queen!

Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Occupation: School Counselor

How did you get involved in Young Life? I first went with some friends to "8th-grade night" YL club when I was still in Jr. High. I then went to YL summer camp after my sophomore year (Lake Champion in New York), and that is when I became a Christian.

Why Tech? I always want to be involved in YL in some capacity, because it was so instrumental in how I first really understood that God loved me. I think it is such an effective (and fun!) ministry that can work at any school, because it's all about relationships and loving kids. My house is about a block away from Tech, so it seems like the perfect fit to get involved here, where I live. I also worked at a nearby middle school for a couple of years, so I know some students at Tech.

What would people be surprised to know about you? I like to crochet.

Hobbies: Traveling, biking, outdoorsy stuff, music, dancing

What are you listening to on your I-Pod? Tim Maia
(popular Brazilian musician in the 70's and 80's)

Meet JC Trombley!

Hometown: West Lafayette, IN

Occupation: Motion Graphics Designer

How did you get involved in Young Life? I first went to Young Life during a “kidnap” club during high school. Later during college, I was re-exposed to Young Life through the leader perspective and was able to better understand how the ministry is geared towards helping high school students.

Why Tech? I taught art at Tech for a year and saw a need in students lives for a program like Young Life. After hearing that others wanted to start the program, I knew that I wanted to be involved. I envisioned that Young Life could be successful on the Tech campus. Even though I don’t teach there anymore, this is a great way for me to stay connected to the students and share the Gospel.

What would people be surprised to know about you? I LOVE hockey! Go Blackhawks.

Hobbies: Watching movies, drawing, playing XBOX 360

What are you excited about?: Our new leaders.

What are you listening to on your I-Pod? Relient K and Lupe Fiasco
